Patricia Anne Knieper Hotop, age 56, of Lawrenceville, GA, passed away Sunday, February 4th 2018 after battling cancer for the third time. Patti is survived by her loving husband of 35 years John Hotop, children Katie Hotop Geisert and husband Jeff, Amanda Hotop Taylor and husband Eric, and Mitch Hotop, her parents Bill and Marlene Knieper, brother John Knieper, sisters Ann Cofer, and Theresa Sexton and many beloved nieces and nephews.Patti was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan but lived most of her life in Georgia. Patti attended Shamrock High School where she met John, then earned her masters degree in education from Mercer University and worked as an elementary school teacher. Patti was a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend. She was a member of St. Marguerite church, Churchill Commons neighborhood, the Brookwood community, and was actively involved in the lives of everyone around her. Patti enjoyed her family and friends, traveling, and the beach. She loved her animals, making others happy, and most of all she lived life with enthusiasm and grace, strengthened by faith.The Funeral Mass to honor and celebrate the life of Patricia “Patti” Hotop will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 6pm at St. Marguerite d’Youville Catholic Church, 85 Gloster Road, NW, Lawrenceville, GA., 30044. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Tom M. Patti was such a beautiful person whose ready smile will be missed by all those who knew her. I admired her strength, her grace and her Joy for life. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with your whole family as you grieve and as you celebrate her life. When Grace and I were at the wedding we had a wonderful time with Patti. She raised loving and accomplished children and was loved by John. Patti was truly rich in all that matters when she was welcomed by God. Uncle Wayne, Aunt Anita and cousins Chris, Sharon, Mary and Grace.
