William Verlon “Bill” Blailock of Winchester, KY, formerly of Greenville, MS, passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus on March 14, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Affectionately known throughout his life as Bill, he was born in Kosciusko, MS on March 24, 1926 to Charlie Bennett Blailock and Lura Alma Meggs Blailock, the fourth of their seven children. His passing came just 10 days prior to his 98th birthday.He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate 0f 79 years, Dell Blailock, just shy of their 80th anniversary scheduled on May 3, 2024. They had not been apart since World War II. He also leaves behind one sister, Janie Shaw of Kosciusko, MS and all four of his children, daughters Blanche Wade of Winchester, KY, Barbara Polson (Billy Bob) of Winchester, KY and Carol Pangburn of Harvest, AL and son Barry Blailock (Chelly) of Snellville, GA. His legacy of 5 generations of surviving family members includes 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 11great-great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by 3 brothers: Charles Maurice Blailock, Paul Edward “Jack” Blailock and Raymond Earl Blailock, 2 sisters: Velma Pylate and Barbara Mangrum and 1 grandson: Bradley Ryan Blailock.He patriotically served his country in the Philippines during World War II in the U.S. Army. Upon his honorable discharge, he briefly studied at Mississippi Southern College (now University) before entering a lifetime career of industrial and marine supply management in Greenville, MS where he lived with his family from 1952 to 2005. He loved to hunt and fish in his earlier years and enjoyed sports of all kinds, cherishing his time playing baseball and softball. In softball, he excelled as an all-star pitcher in the old Greenville, MS fast pitch softball league where he was selected to pitch against the renown Eddie Feigner of the King and his Court. He was a charter member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Greenville where he taught Sunday School and led the music worship for many years, inspired by the old hymns and his love for the Lord. He also served as chaplain at the local American Legion Post.After a special in-home service in Kentucky with Pastor Pat Findley of Grace Baptist Church in Winchester, KY, there will be a private graveside interment service with military honor at Eternal Hills Cemetery in Snellville, GA at 2pm on April 1 with Pastor Brian Boyles, senior pastor of Church on Main (First Baptist Snellville) officiating.
